A heart built for racing

Aaron was born with a severe heart condition that restricted blood flow from his heart’s pumping chamber. He now races at Mount Panorama.

At five he couldn’t walk 50 metres without running out of breath. At seven, his parents were told he needed open-heart surgery or he might not survive. The surgery worked, and at ten his heart specialist cleared him to race karts.

He went on to represent Australia at karting events in Japan and Las Vegas. He is the only driver to have had open-heart surgery and race at close to 300 km/h around Mount Panorama, and one of only a few to win national championships in two different categories.
